Harvard Summer School
Harvard University offers students the chance to study alongside resident students as well as other college and adult students. The program is available to high school students who graduate between 2012-2014 are looking to study at Harvard for the summer.
The courses offered are real and anybody who successfully completes a course will get earn credit towards college from a highly regarded establishment. Obviously having successfully completed a course will put you in good stead to study at the University in the future.
The Cost of studying in one of the worlds top universities for the summer school is currently $10,370. For your money you will be offered tuition for two courses that are worth four credits each. On top of the courses students will receive rooms, board and if required, health insurance. Financial aid maybe also is offered for those that fit a certain criteria. The criteria amongst other things include domestic students that have been referred through the Secondary School Program.
If your are a none a domestic student and /or you cannot afford the cost of the course then there is still something you could do. You could still benefit from the teachings from lecturers at such a well respected establishment by enrolling for one of their free online courses. Harvard free online courses do not carry any accreditation for college, they do provide certification to emphasise mastery of the topic and provide a final grade.
Harvard and M.I.T announced late last year that they would join forces for collaboration know as edX, which is a non-profit enterprise offering free online courses. The venture is reminiscent of an earlier project that had failed some 10 years ago. The chief members of edX are convinced that online learning is now here to stay and it will continue to grow and be a success.
